Introducing…

Miss Surrey Margaret
Born 8/11/11
9 lbs, 1 oz (read: HOLY SHIT)
21.5″

Full birth story to follow, but here’s a few highlights:
  • Red hair, everyone.  Like, orange red.  I’m the proud parent of a blonde, a brunette, and  a redhead.  I’m currently researching ginger rights.
  • More secret confessions of my amazing asshole husband’s truly supportive, encouraging, and loving dickish behavior.  He’s such a saint tool.
  • How fairy godmothers sometimes arrive just in time, in the form of midwives.
  • There are some seriously messed-up parasites that people can get.
I typed all that with one hand, y’all, sitting in a hospital bed while feeding a baby.  So, on that note, I am going to retire to, uh, right here and watch my movie.

Damn, those hats are awesome.

  1. Welcome to the world, Surrey! Your mom is a total hoot.
No, not hooters. I said HOOT. Like funny.
Uh, forget it. Just go back to eating and we’ll talk later.

  2. Nicole says:

Congrats! What fabulous news! She’s a doll. And, I know you’re busy and shit and one-handed, and possible host to parasites, but I want to see that red hair!

Ah, three girls, if you ever want to compare notes . . .

  3. Brenna says:

Welcome! Love that hat, looking forward to hearing why your husband is up for sainthood. Congratulations.

  4. Janel says:

Thanks ladies! Working on the red hair pictures, but they’re kind of hard to get. It doesn’t show up real good in pictures yet, since it’s so fine.

  5. Anne says:

Congratulations! I started reading your blog just before you got pregnant with this one; seems like just yesterday. I enjoy your writing. Good luck keeping at it, now with a new one too. (Sounds like you already got the tricks down!) 🙂

  6. Janel says:

Thanks! I’m so glad you enjoy it. Hopefully I’ll still be enjoyable now that I’m not pregnant 😉
